The best of Southern Norway

Lista has long traditions with emigration to America, and much of the American culture is reflected here in the form of music, language, construction techniques, street names etc. Here you can go shopping at Trunken, which is an authentic American department store with many great products, or how about a lunch at Larsens Bakery? Every summer, the American Festival is also held in Vanse, a colorful festival that celebrates the strong bond between Lista and America with a number of great events and activities.

Great experiences

If you want to explore our neighboring areas, we recommend a trip to Hidra, a beautiful island located in Flekkefjord. The island is often called "the pearl of Southern Norway" and with good reason. Hidra has a beautiful archipelago that offers a rich plant and bird life as well as cultural and historical monuments.

In Mandal you will find Sjølingstad Uldvarefabrikk (wool fabric). Here, wool products are still produced on the old machines, and the public gets to take part in the process the raw wool must go through before it ends up as a finished product. There is also a museum shop where you can buy great products. Once in Lindesnes, you should also stop by the country's oldest lighthouse. The lighthouse is open to the public, and in the hall under the lighthouse you will find a café as well as exhibitions and film screenings that provide an insight into the lighthouse's history and coastal culture.
